Our faculty includes Artistic Directors Josie Walsh and Jo Matos, Era and Andrei Jouravlev, Stacy Caddell, Dwight Rhoden, Desmond Richardson, Adam Sklute, Bradley Shelver, Africa Guzman, Veronica Part and so many more. We provide professionals from top ballet companies and schools from around the world such as the Russian National Ballet, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Complexions, Alvin Ailey, Ballet West, National Ballet School of Spain and many others spending millions each year ensuring that our dancers can study with the very best, be exposed to a variety of styles and approaches, and have performance opportunities they simply can’t get anywhere else.

We’ve expanded to cities around the world and many different forms of dance, but it all started with our NYC Ballet Intensives. These intensives are offered over the course of 7 weeks.

In 2020, our summer NYC Ballet Intensives are offered from June 1 through July 17 for dancers between the ages of 8 and 25. Monday through Friday 5 hours of classes daily and on the performance track between 6 and 7 hrs daily with a creative rehearsal process involved. Ages 8-13 years old are a slightly modified schedule. Dancers attend classes at the Joffrey Ballet School dance studios or several other nearby locations. Classes include classical ballet technique, pointe, variations, partnering, contemporary ballet, contemporary dance, modern and repertory.

On July 17, the final day of our NYC Ballet Intensives, dancers on the performance track will have a unique opportunity to perform in a matinee and evening performance in a fully produced show in a professional theatre. Dancers wishing to perform in these final performances are required to attend the last three weeks of the intensives.

How to Audition for Joffrey’s NYC Ballet Intensive

Our NYC Ballet Intensives follow the same admissions procedures as most of our other summer dance intensives. Dancers must attend one of our auditions in multiple locations around the US or world. In some cases where traveling to an audition isn’t possible, they may submit a video audition. This process allows us to place each dancer at an appropriate level from beginner through advanced within their intensive. It will also help to qualify dancers for scholarships and acceptance.

Are you ready to progress as a dancer and performer? Register with the Joffrey Ballet School today and take the next step in your dance career.
