Las Vegas Summer Dance Intensives

Las Vegas is home to two of our most popular and unique intensives: the Las Vegas Jazz/Contemporary Dance Intensive, and our Cirque Du Soleil Performance Intensive. If you’re looking to enter the world of commercial dance or to perform as a dancer or acrobat, these intensives will introduce you to that world. Here are the details on these intensives.

Las Vegas is one of the entertainment capitals of the world. It’s where the commercial and concert dance worlds collide. It’s where ballerinas share the stage with flame throwers, and acrobats with hip hop crews. Explore the exciting world of Las Vegas while working with the stars that grace the stages of the Strip at night.

Las Vegas Jazz & Contemporary Dance Intensive

If you’re looking to enter the world of commercial dance, there’s perhaps no better place in the West to learn the ropes than Las Vegas. Our Jazz/Contemporary Dance Intensive offers a unique opportunity to learn from some of the biggest names in commercial and contemporary dance, including winners of So You Think You Can Dance and performers in Broadway and Las Vegas shows.

Our Las Vegas Jazz/Contemporary Dance Intensive is for dancers from ages 8 to 25, from beginners through pre-professional. Dancers will have the opportunity to learn from more than a dozen master instructors and working professionals including Matthew Prescott and Maximilien Baud, co-Artistic Directors of our Las Vegas Jazz/Contemporary and Cirque Arts intensives, as well as our NYC Musical Theater intensive.

These intensives will be held over two weeks, from July 27 through August 7, 2020 on the campus of University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Classes will be held from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, covering jazz and contemporary dance, as well as a class instructed by a Cirque du Soleil performer. Each class lasts 1.5 hours, with a break for lunch, and as with all our intensives, dancers have an opportunity to perform for their parents and show off what they’ve learned at the close of each week.

Classes are 1 hour master classes in classes from ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz funk, hip hop, musical theater, and breaking to name a few. You will have exclusive masterclasses with dance celebrities such as World of Dance heartthrob Michael Dameski and  SYTYCD winner Lex Ishimoto. We also have the one of kind opportunity to work with the Cirque du Soleil shows MJ One, Mystere, and Love Beattles this year. Not only will you work directly with the dance supervisor for the show to create an original number, but you will see the show with access like no other to the particular show.

Dancers over age 12 who require housing will stay in Tanopah Hall, a dormitory on the campus of UNLV. This traditional college dormitory features rooms shared by two roommates, with sinks in the room. Please note that airport transportation is not provided for this intensive so parents are advised to drop off and pick up dancers at the dorms according to our simple drop off / pick up procedure.

The dorm also has laundry facilities in the building and an informal lounge where our caring resident advisors and chaperones may plan evening activities. And speaking of evening activities, dancers attending the Las Vegas Jazz/Contemporary intensive also have a unique opportunity to see live performances on the world famous Las Vegas Strip, including Cirque du Soleil performances of MJ ONE or Beatles LOVE.

Las Vegas Cirque Arts Intensive

Our Las Vegas Cirque Arts is like no other intensive offered anywhere in the world. This one or two week program will be held from July 13 through July 24, 2020 and will introduce you to the unique world of circus arts, incorporating not just dance but acrobatics, clowning, aerial, juggling, cultural dance and other key aspects of the circus arts. If you dream of performing and are thinking beyond the world of dance, this intensive offers a unique opportunity to learn how to become a more well-rounded entertainer.

We’re proud to once again partner with the singular Cirque Du Soleil to produce this once in a lifetime summer intensive. Explore the world of circus arts with the stars and coaches of Cirque Du Soleil. Discover what it takes to make your dreams of performing with this iconic organization while building relationships that will last a lifetime.

This program is for dancers ages 8 to 25 who want to explore the unique world of circus arts. The intensive is led by co-Artistic Directors Matthew Prescott and Maximilien Baud, who are joined by Tiffany Baker, Dance Supervisor of the Michael Jackson One Cirque du Soleil show, along with other professional Cirque dancers and performers.

As with our Las Vegas Jazz Contemporary intensive, the Cirque Arts intensive is held on the campus at University of Nevada at Las Vegas, with dancers over age 12 who require housing staying in the Tanopah Hall dormitory.

The intensive is held at the world class circus gymnasium L’Oracle.

As with all of our intensives, the Cirque Arts intensive offers an opportunity to participate in an informal studio performance to demonstrate their learning at the end of each week as well as to attend live performances of Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil shows.

The shows this year are O and Mystere.

As the popularity of Cirque du Soleil and similar shows grows around the world, this intensive gives dancers a window into a world of performance opportunity that extends beyond dance.

How to Audition for Our Las Vegas Dance & Cirque Intensives

All of our summer dance intensives in the Western US follow the same admissions procedures. Dancers must attend an audition around the US or in some cases where traveling to an audition isn’t possible, they may submit a recorded audition. The audition process allows us to place each dancer at an appropriate level within their intensive and will also help to qualify dancers for scholarships and acceptance.
